Happy Birthday, Heylshof! Warmest congratulations on your 100th birthday

Solingen, 02.07.2026 (lifePR) – The Heylshof Museum in Worms is celebrating its 100th anniversary. This will take place on 4 June. The museum is holding a high-calibre anniversary exhibition to mark the occasion. Showcasing artists with a connection to the Heylshof or whose gallery owners and collectors have close ties to the museum, the exhibition invites visitors to discover links between the Heylshof’s historical heritage and contemporary artistic practices, ranging from classically grounded approaches to experimental and multimedia works. Visitors are invited to discover the links between the Heylshof’s historical heritage and contemporary artistic practices, which range from classical approaches to experimental and multimedia works.

Featured artists include Bettina Heinen-Ayech, Norbert Bisky, Günther Uecker, Römer & Römer, Achim Freyer, Neo Rauch, Christopher Winter, Charline von Heyl and Markus Lüpertz. The exhibition is complemented by selected historical works, including pieces by Max Pechstein. This carefully curated selection establishes a dynamic dialogue between historical works from the museum’s collection and more recent artistic productions. It opens up new perspectives on form, materiality, and visual language.

It offers both long-standing admirers of the collection and a wider audience the opportunity to explore continuities, breaks and affinities across generations. In doing so, it highlights how artistic ideas evolve whilst remaining connected through shared themes and visual traditions.

We are delighted to lend Bettina Heinen-Ayech’s painting Double Self-Portrait in Norway to this significant exhibition. This large-format watercolour is widely considered to be one of the artist’s most important works. As the Bettina Heinen-Ayech Foundation, we consider it very important to contribute to the success of this anniversary exhibition.

“Happy Birthday, Heylshof!” will be on display from 4 July to 4 October 2026 at Museum Heylshof, Stephansgasse 9, 67547 Worms.
